I've looked at the Recording devices in Windows and see the Avid multichannel and the 1/2 inputs. This mic was working about 6 months ago when connected to a Symetrix voice processor. I've swapped the XLR cable as well as the USB cable, but have the same issue. I have made sure that Analog 1/2 is the Input, and that the Engine is set to Mbox (that's the only option available). I've created a mono track, enabled recording, and pressed play/record at the same time in ProTools. I've tried a Windows 7 desktop with ProTools, and a Windows 8 laptop as well. This microphone does need phantom power so I press the 48V button on the front to activate. I have an Audio Technica microphone, an AT2020 Cardioid Condenser.
